The Republic of South Africa has the highest overall violent crime rate in the world, as well as the highest reported rape, murder and hijacking rates on the entire planet. Rounding off the numbers, between January 1994 and December 1999 there were over 12 million serious crimes reported, including 152 000 murders, 168 000 attempted murders and close on 294 000 rapes in a country with a population of 41 million. One thousand farmers have been butchered during this period. The government has refused to allow the public access to the national and precinct crime statistics occurring during the last year or so, saying that the system does not reflect the true figures. Statistics at suburb level are not permitted to be released to any member of the public, including neighbourhood watches and community policing forums, under any circumstances, and severe disciplinary steps are taken against any police that do so. In a country with over a dozen major ethnic groupings, interestingly no information on crime victims or perpetrators as to ethnicity or gender is permitted to be released under any circumstances. The South African Police Service (SAPS), like all the organisations in South Africa which try to fight crime, is understaffed, underequipped, undertrained and underpaid. Nothing of substance is being done to combat crime and with a 7% conviction rate nationally for serious crimes, 93% of serious crimes in the RSA go unpunished. Newspaper reports state that HIV not only affects 4,7 million citizens (10% of the population, and is doubling roughly every three to four years) but has also infected some 10 000 SAPS members and 60% of the SA National Defence Force. Knowledge about crime statistics and crime prevention is slowly but surely disappearing from mainstream publications. Freedom is stolen in small increments, usually by persons claiming loudly and piously to have whoever`s well-being at heart they think will most persuade the public to allow them to continue their attack. Usually it is under the pretext of being good for the victims, and generally based on emotional arguments. They then immediately follow up their statements by saying that of course they are in favour of freedom of expression but of course all normal, decent people agree that they don`t want that type of thought expressed. Reasoned arguments are anathema to reformers and saviours who only require you to give up just a little more freedom to them and all the problems they themselves have created will be solved. Freedom is found where the government fears and must obey it`s citizens. Tyranny is found where the citizens fear and must obey the government. Without freedom of expression as guaranteed by the citizenry themselves they are slaves, however invisible or golden the chains. Without the citizenry having arms to protect their freedom, they are simply awaiting the day the tyrants decide to apply the chains. States are ruled by the most powerful group, namely the armed groups. Freedom or slavery is a choice, but if you do not make the choice, it will be made for you. Rights are an invention and do not actually exist in nature. Nature does not care whether humanity exists or not, or under what conditions. Humans live or die based on their decisions or actions or lack thereof. If history has taught us one thing, it is that those races and cultures which do not ensure their survival by being prepared to preserve and fight for their races and culture are exterminated. We are the only creatures on the planet in a position to consciously decide whether we become extinct or not. If our societies are filthy, crime-ridden and riddled with disease it is the result of our action or inaction. We and we alone are responsible for our societies, good or bad, and for maintaining them and solving the problems they experience.
